Elemental Voice

A method that combines shamanic, psychological and natural philosophy principles with vocal expression techniques. Each element addresses a distinct part of ourselves, bringing up and empowering aspects of our holistic self. Each element therefore uses a different approach.

  1. Earth – Stability, Ground: Toning & Body Percussion
  2. Water – Community, Connection: Emotional Singing Circle
  3. Air – Exploration, Lightness: Overtone Chanting
  4. Fire – Intuition, Empowerment: Improv through Raag

AZTEC DANCE

Also called Ollin Xochitl “flower in movement”. This is a very ancient ritual dance form that comes from the toltec tradition and is still practiced nowadays thanks to being passed down generation after generation. It is based on monorhythmic structures, meaning everyone plays and dances the same rhythm, which enhances the resonant field and seeks to achieve harmony while being in a circle, bridging the earth and the sky through the synchronous movement of the participants. These movements are inspired by the natural forces that surround us, like the elements, animals and phenomena.

  2. Review of cross and tonanzin, plus huehueteotl (grandpa fire) and tlaloc (rain) dance
  3. Review of these dances plus paloma (pigeon) and teoka (warrior) dance
  4. Last day with all dances together in the traditional dance ritual (“full cosmos”)

TOLTEC PHILOSOPHY & TRADITION

The forces of creation live, breathe and move around us. The Toltec (Spiritual Artists) developed a distinct philosophy and practices to understand and communicate in grace with these entities and forces. These sessions shed some light on the tools and principles they brought to the world and that are still passed down today.

CACAO CEREMONY

The cacao ceremony has the intention of accompanying the participants through a personal process, which can be light and ephemeral or profound and transformational. It’s done in a ritual circle around a traditional altar, everyone drinking the same therapeutic dose of organic agroforestral cacao (the traditional recipe: A little bit of chili for a better absorption and agave honey). We blindfold to focus on the breath and inner realms, while a meditation is guided to work on the personal intention. Live music accompanies the inner journey. We can then observe what we need to heal, connecting us with nature and our own potential as unique human beings. At the end, we integrate experiences sharing what we’ve lived.

Bringing the Mexican Traditional Medicine, different herbs/resin are used to purify the 4 bodies in an energetic cleanse. The ceremony is based on ancient indigenous ways integrating modern tools.

A rapé blowing is offered optionally, it’s a traditional medicine preparation made out of tobacco and other ashes of plants and barks. Its function, among others, is to free and clean the sinuses and clear the mind. Medicine songs from different traditions are shared, some which everyone can join their voice to raise up the energy.

Throughout this process, we enter a sensitive conscious state, in which we are available to transform experiences of pain, solitude, abandonment, resentment and others we put our intention into. We can then achieve gratitude through forgiveness.

Our true essence acts through the purity of love, acceptance and compassion. Cacao reminds us of this.

TEMAZCAL/SWEAT LODGE

A therapeutic sauna common to the indigenous traditions of Central and North America. It’s an ancient tradition that uses steam and medicinal herbs to purify the body, calm the mind and renew the spirit. It is performed according to ritual customs, together with traditional, inipi, group or other songs.

Throughout 4 “doors” or phases, we connect with our 4 elements, 4 bodies (physical, emotional, mental and spiritual), and 4 stages of our life. Each door also increases in temperature, as we become accustomed and strengthened. This, with the collective and individual intention, allows us to enter a state of prayer, contemplation, meditation and surrender.

As our pores open with the heat, we inhale and intake the smell and medicinal properties of the herbs selected for each ritual. It has many benefits:
